Bhatia clan


Bhatia is a Jatt or Jatgotra, found in the Punjab region of Pakistan, South Asia and India.〔People of India Punjab Volume XXXVII edited by I.J.S Bansal and Swaran Singh pages 367 to 372 Manohar〕〔People of India Hayana Volume XXIII edited by M.L Sharma and A.K Bhatia pages 416 to 418 Manohar〕 The Bhatia are mainly found in Bahawalpur district and Madhya Pradesh.
== Present circumstances ==

The Bhatia are strictly endogamous, and practice clan exogamy. Their main clans are the Bhati, Bhatti, Sandhu, Gill, Batth, Warraich, Dhillon, Brar, Sidhu, Muhar, Mand, Mandal, Dhaliwal, Boparai, Pannu, Mann, Maan, Bhullar, Sekhon, Dhindsa, Virk, Rana, Randhawa, Kang and Panwar.
Historically Bhatia's main profession is agriculture. Majority were LAnd Lord, But Some of them hold the profession of Business. After Partitioning of two Countries India and Pakistan they were migrated to Punjab and Madheya Pradesh and start doing business in East India. But Some of them continues and hold their profession such as agriculture in Punjab.〔(The Sikhs of the Punjab p. 5 by J.S. Grewal ) Quote: "However, the most numerous of the agricultural tribes were the Jats. They had come from Sindh and Rajasthan along the river valleys, moving up, displacing the Gujjars and Rajputs to occupy culturable lands. Before the end of the sixteenth century they were more numerous than any other agricultural tribe between the rivers Jhelum and Jamuna."〕
